NEET 2020 : A Day Before 3 NEET Aspirants Died by Suicide


Important Highlights :- 

Last few days some students died by suicide.

Tamilnadu's Government had demanded for canceled the NEET exam earlier August.

About 7-8 Lakhs people died because of suicide worldwide every year. Suicide is now a common cause of death between the age group 15-40 years. Every year in India around 1-2 Lakhs die because of suicide. 

Jothisri Durga

Jothisri Durga, a 19 year NEET aspirants died by suicide and was found hanging in her house. This was the shocking news from Madurai district, Tamilnadu. According to the police investigation, Jothi Sri a NEET aspirant who was preparing for NEET exam, was anxious and stress about getting qualified in the competitive exam. She was extremely worried about getting admission in a medical college. In the previous year she had given the exam once. She had left a suicide note for his family and wrote that,"I really studied well. But I am afraid. If I can't get the medical seat, I will disappoint everyone." 

In his note she had also told her aunt that, "If I fail to qualify the NEET exam, my family's hard work will go in vain." She also recorded a voice, tap for her family and apologized to them for taking the step of ending her life.


Another two male aspirants, 
Aditya and Motilal both have died by suicide. They are from Dharmapuri and Namakkal districts in Tamilnadu. 

In this COVID-19 pandemic most of the political parties in Tamilnadu had repeatedly demanded to the central government to ban the exam and also the Tamilnadu's health minister Vijaybaskar had written to the government and told that NEET exam should be canceled. The Tamilnadu government demanding that the medical admissions based on 12 class marksheet, but the supreme court had denied all the demands and said that the authorities take all the necessary steps for conducting the All India NEET Undergraduate Exam


After the death of neet aspirants in the state, opposition party's leader MK Stalin said that,
"Suicide is not a solution". Chief Minister Edapaddi K Palaniswami said that,"It is distressing to see the students the hope for the future and taking such steps." Students also have to learn how to face any problems, suicide is not an option.
